The cat limps? It can be because of that

A limping cat may have been injured. However, limping can also be a symptom of another condition, such as cat sniffing. If the cause cannot be identified, you should consult a veterinarian. An injury is often the reason when the cat limps - Image: Shutterstock / Sergey Gerashchenko

If you observe that your cat limps, you should carefully examine the affected paw. The paralyzing fur nose may have hurt during a walk or a daring jump.

When the cat limps because of an injury

Check whether there are any foreign objects such as stickers, thorns, burdock, stones, splinters or broken glass in the cat's paw. Carefully remove the foreign body with tweezers as far as possible and take care of the wound. If the object is sitting too deep or if your room tiger is noticeably in pain, it is better to take it to the vet.

Another way the cat limps is a cut. You can clean a light, superficial cut, apply a special wound healing ointment for cats and bond, then the injury heals again. However, if your velvet paw is bleeding or the cut is too deep, veterinary help is also necessary. This also applies if the kitty is bleeding and limping due to a broken claw, you cannot see the cause or if the paw or joint is swollen and feels hot.

Other causes of limping cats

In addition to injuries, a bee sting or other insect bites and burns to the paws can cause pain, causing the cat to limp. In the case of minor incidents, it is sufficient to clean, lotion and bond the area. Otherwise, the veterinarian must intervene.

If all of these causes can be excluded, limping can also be a symptom of arthritis or osteoarthritis. The painful joint disease often affects old cats, who then generally appear weak and listless. In addition, limping caused by chlamydia can be accompanied by limping.
